Drebbel stamp 2010

Last week, an article in the Alkmaarsche Courant announced a post stamp dedicated to our illustrious citizen Cornelis Drebbel. The stamp will be published next year in connection to the jubileum of the Patent council.

In spite of the images and information sent to the designers by our Drebbologist, Hubert van Onna, other material has been used.

Drebbel's portrait on the stamp comes from the Marine in Den Helder and has been drawn long time after Drebbel's death. The submarine on display is a replica exhibited in the Alkmaarsch Stedelijk Museum in 2004 and some years thereafter.

A missed chance, this stamp and bad publicity for the Patent Council.
