A Poem

Blue Skies Steve....

A long winter must come

Before life returns to green.

Now all is grey and drab,

Cruel, lifeless and mean.

Only above is there color,

In air so clear it taunts.

But I avoid the brightness.

I don't have what it wants.

Still the blue sky waits

For its friend to come out and play.

To hear his excited plans

To totally seize the day.

A blue Arizona morning

Saw him first long ago.

And a blue Arizona evening

Was there when it was time to go.

His blue eyes twinkled

At jokes both bad and good.

His blue college colors

Only a few really understood.

Still the blue sky waits

For its friend to come out and play.

To hear his excited plans

To totally seize the day..

Am I jealous of the blue sky

For all the things it shared?

Or am I just sorry

For the things I never dared?

Clouds should come

And cover up the blue

The sky should find others

That can appreciate its hue.

But still the blue sky waits

For its friend to come out and play.

To hear his excited plans

To totally seize the day.
