Insructional Chess tournaments & Drop in lessons

Parking Information

FREE parking is available all around the smaller streets that are east of Doris Ave. In addition, there are 4 parking sports available on Parkview Ave next to the building, if you use these spots to drop off/ pick up your child please do so quickly as these spots are very limited.

Tournament Fee: $25 per student has to be paid until noon of the tournament day, please, use money transfer to email: lebedev@post.com

Drop in lesson is available and starts at 2:50 P.M.    Fee - $20

Family Discount: second child pays $20 for the tournament, and third child pays $18
Prepaying for several tournaments/lessons allows for additional discount.                                                                         

Registration: 3:30 - 3:55 PM.

All students/players will be divided into groups by skill level. 

Please, pay attention, we run tournaments in two kinds of groups: 1. Regular rating and active (quick) rating.

In groups of regular rating, writing down the moves and playing with a clock with 60 minutes per player is required.   In groups for rapid (quick) rating, writing down the moves is not required and also game could be played without a clock or 25 minutes per game time control on a clock.  

We strongly encourage you to pre-register by phone or e-mail prior to the tournament to improve the administration process. 

Start Time for the first round is at 4:00 P.M.                              

Finish Time: most games finish by 6:15 P.M., however, please note that advanced players typically take about an hour longer to finish their games.

All participants are rewarded with ribbons, medals, or trophies depending on the players’ success in the tournament.

All games are rated by Chess Federation of Canada (www.chess.ca). Please, make an ID number with CFC prior to the tournament. On the home page of CFC click on "join" and follow the simple instruction.
