New Teacher Mentor Program

Workshops are mandated for ALL new teachers. They are held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays.

For your information . . .

The District requires ALL newly-hired teachers to participate in 15 hours of NEW HIRE TRAINING, which includes:

• 12 hours of new teacher workshops

• 3 hours of mentor/mentee discussion groups

Upon completion of all components of the New Teacher Mentor Program, new teachers will receive a “Certificate of Completion” from the Office of Personnel.

Teachers will be required to make up any missed workshops.

PLEASE NOTE:

Part-time teachers (more than .22 FTE) may be mentored - Must attend mentor/mentee discussion groups; may choose to attend an additional 10 hours of workshops or complete workshops upon full-time appointment.

New Hires who have never been previously mentored or tenured in a PUBLIC school in New York State will be assigned a trained mentor

New Hires who have been previously mentored or tenured in a PUBLIC school in New York State will be assigned a trained buddy.

ALL NEW HIRES, including previously tenured and/or experienced teacher, Guidance Counselors, Speech & Hearing teachers, School Psychologists, and Librarians must attend ALL DATES .
