The Chatzimanolis Lab

I am an evolutionary biologist and entomologist interested in documenting earth’s biodiversity. I am studying the evolution and systematics of rove beetles, a hyper-diverse group with more than 60,000 described species. I have an active, collections-based research program in species discovery and description of rove beetles, and I combine molecular techniques with morphology and fossils to study their evolutionary relationships. In the past I have used phylogenies to ask questions about the evolution aposematic coloration and sexual structures and I am currently studying the evolution of myrmecophily in xanthopygine rove beetles. A second area of research focus includes beetle faunistics studies on the Tennessee Valley area.
