Call for Papers

International Symposium on Human Rights and Quality of Life of the

Portuguese-Speaking Communities in the US and Canada

We welcome contributions in any field of research that present critical reflections on issues that have direct impact in the human rights and quality of life of the Portuguese-speaking communities in the United States and Canada. This symposium on Human Rights and Quality of Life aims to explore Health, Deportation, Education, Advocacy and Leadership issues in the United States and Canada. The papers presented at this symposium will draw on the experiences of the Portuguese-speaking communities to address the complexity of challenges posed by life in their host countries.

People from all disciplines are invited to submit proposals for consideration. Please submit a 300 word abstract by October 7th, 2011 to: Deolinda Veiga: dveiga@maps-inc.orgInclude the paper proposal form attached to this page. Abstracts should be in Word format and the file name should be the author’s full name. The subject of the e-mail should be “International Symposium”. All submissions will be reviewed and the authors of accepted abstracts for presentation in the conference will be informed by October 12th, 2011. Papers presented may also be eligible for selection for publication in an edited volume.
