Charleston Symphony Youth Orchestra

The Tri-County area’s oldest and most advanced musical youth ensemble celebrates over 40 years of excellence in the area. The Charleston Symphony Youth Orchestra (formerly known as YOLOW), honors the organization’s rich history of music education with an exciting season of concerts and workshops, all culminating in a Masterworks concert featuring alumni members and supporters. CCSD District Orchestra

Charleston County School District (CCSD) is pleased to offer FREE district level orchestra programs to CCSD string students. Prospective students must have at least one semester’s experience, be recommended by their teacher, and participate in the strings orchestra program at their school if one is offered. Acceptance into the orchestras is based upon auditions. If you are interested in auditioning, please click on the register tab at the top of the page.

Southcoast Symphony

Is looking for string players (students and adults) interested in performing some fine literature (New World Symphony, Appalachian Spring and an excerpt from Sibelius' Karelia Suite to open the program). Rehearsals are Thursdays from 7-9 pm, and the concert is Sunday March 1st at 4pm, Bishop England High School. If interested, contact Ron Mendola (Cell: 678-427-4536).

Conservatory Youth Chamber Strings

The Lowcountry Conservatory of Music, a nonprofit community music school, is very excited to introduce the Conservatory Youth Chamber Strings, Mount Pleasant's newest youth string ensemble! Lowcountry Region Orchestra

The Lowcountry Region Orchestra is a two-day orchestra event on the third weekend in November for the strongest string players in this region of the state. To audition for the Region Orchestra, complete the online Audition Registration.

South Carolina All-State Orchestra

Students who participate in the Region Orchestra may audition for the South Carolina All-State Orchestra, the most talented players in the entire state. All-State Auditions are in early January usually near Columbia, SC. The All-State Orchestra event from Friday to Sunday near the end of February at a location that varies from year to year.

Both events are wonderful opportunities for students to perform with the finest student musicians in South Carolina and to perform under the direction of a nationally/internationally renowned conductor. College recruiters look for student accomplishments such as acceptance in to these prestigious orchestras, and these events also give students a chance to meet and make new friends around the region/state with similar interests.
