 2-12-10 thru 2-23-10 Reese and Bang are going to Texas for a week of field training. We are all so excited!
2-25-10 We are back from Texas :( It was a wonderful time. The grounds we were on were a doggie disneyland. There was every kind of marking situation you could imagine. The dogs were doing some 200+ yard marks everyday. Not to mention the lovely weather. I hated to leave 70 degrees and drive back to freezing temperatures.

4-11-10 Reese earned first place with a 193 in Open A at the Golden Retriever Specialty in St. Louis.
6-12-10 Reese earned a second place with a 197 in Open A at the Champaign Urbana Obedience Trail.
6-26-10 Reese earns her CDX and wins a run off for fourth place with a score of 188 at the North County Obedience Training Club trial, she improved her score 5.5 point on Sunday and got a third place ribbon for her insurance leg with a score of 193.5. The judges were tough!
7-14-10 Reese has come in season early (thanks to Jazz coming in) so...here we go. I will start progesterone testing tomorrow! Looks like she got that CDX in just the nick of time.
7-18-10 Bang is finally home! I left on Saturday to go pick her up and the easy 4 hour up and 4 hours back turned into a stressful weekend. A friend of mine that happens to have Jesse (Bang's litter mate) went with me to see Jesse who is at Miner's Kennel being trained also. We each brought a dog with us also. About 15 miles from our hotel my van decided it was done. So I limped along as far as I could to an exit ramp and it gave out completely. We took our dogs out of the van (in 90 degreee weather) and walked up the exit ramp to a motel that was close by. After about 2 hours of phone calls looking for a rental (not on the weekend where we were!), trying to find someone to tow my van and arranging to get a ride to our hotel where we had made reservations for the night, we finally meet up with some angels that God must have sent our way and got the dogs and all of our stuff to our hotel and the van taken care of. My friend's son and husband drove the 4 hours to bring her vehicle to us so that we could still keep our plans for picking up Bang and seeing Jesse on Sunday. The guy who towed my van fixed it, on a Sunday! and by 5pm Sunday we were headed back home. Quite the adventure! Bang is doing great...she is doing sight blinds now. I videoed my lesson with Nancy Miner so that I can refer back to it at home. I got told twice, "Don't screw her up".

8-24-10 Reese's ultrasound shows that she is indeed pregnant! Puppies are due September 28th.
9-12-10 Jesse went to his first hunt test this weekend and got 2 Junior Hunter Passes!

9-26-10 Jesse is now "Smokingold Missouri Legend JH" ! The first of the litter to earn a title.
9-29-10 Reese whelped 2 healthy puppies, a boy and a girl.
10-24-10 Chase got his first ribbon in the Junior Hunt test at Bootheel Retriever Club Hunt Test!
10-30-10 Bang is now "SmokinGold Guns Up JH" She ran her last test in style too with perfect 10's across the board! The judges did make fun of her hot pink collar though. See her page for pictures.
12-31-10 Bang has left to go to Texas with the Miners to train. I can't believe how much I miss that little girl. She has become such a big part of my life. Bang will be gone for 3 months. I can't wait until March. I am planning on going to join her in Texas for the first 2 weeks of March. Bang is missed by everyone in the family, even my 2 year old grandaughter keeps asking where Bang Bang is.
2-24-11 One more day at work and I leave for Texas to go see Bang and train for 2 weeks on the gorgeous Featherquest Ranch. I can't wait to see my girl! She has been working hard and I know I will have a learning curve for me to catch up to where she is. I'm looking forward to two weeks of field training and sitting on the deck in the morning drinking coffee and watching the longhorn cows and their calves.
3-14-11 Texas was wonderful. it was between 70 and 75 degrees most days. I am tan from sitting out in the field throwing marks. Bang and Jesse are so muscled up and gorgeous from all the exercise they have been getting it was almost hard to recogonize them. I can't believe that I woke up to snow the morning after I got home! Bang is going to run senior tests this spring with the first one being on her 2nd birthday. I had lots of really good handling lessons while I was in Texas. I feel much better about handling Bang myself. See Bang's page for some Texas pictures.
4-3-11 Ruger (from the 2010 litter) Got his first ribbon yesterday at the tender age of 6 months old. He recieved a JAM at the GRCA all breed field trial in the Puppy Stake. The dogs that placed had all spent time with a professional trainer. That speaks volumes for the natural ability and early guidance that Ruger has received! Pictures to be posted on the 2010 litter page soon.
4-9-11 Chase earned a 197.5 and HIT his first time in the Novice Obedience ring. I'm so proud of Chase and his Mom.
4-22-11 Annie got her first ribbon with at Junior Pass at the Missouri River Retriever Club Hunt Test!
6-20-11 Gabby earned her first titles at the tender age of 8 months! She now has her first UKC Rally Obedience Title and her first UKC Dock Jumping title. Way to go Ann & Gabby!
6-27-11 Reese was xrayed and she has at least 6 puppies that are due to be born on July 7th.

10-16-11 What a day for the SmokinGold Pups! GRCGSL held their WC/WCX test and 5 SmokinGold pups were entered; Bang, Jesse, Chase, Annie & Ruger! All 5 came home with ribbons! Bang and Jesse got their WCX and Chase, Annie & Ruger got their WC! I am one proud puppy grandma.

5-6-12 It was a busy weekend for Smokingold kids, Gabby is now...SmokinGold Hoot N Holler NA NJ, way to go Gabby! or as her mother affectionately calls her, Goo! Bang earns her second Master ribbon and Jesse earned his first Master ribbon at GRCI spring hunt test in Wilminton, IL.
