FTD 44.81 in round 9 by George Young

The weather was unusually warm today and the winds blew around 8 m/s although the lift seldom matched the wind strength.

I took round 1 with a 53.84 and that time in the lowish 50s, kind of set the pattern for the majority of times for the rest of the day. Some times lower and some higher depending on the variability. There were thermals but they didn't seem to have any pattern.

In round 2 Ian Simpson blew us all away with a superb 51.71 with his Cyril. Everyone else in this round were well behind.

Round 3 saw Mike winning with a very fast and well flown 45.92. Second in this round was Ian but he was 10 seconds slower and rest of us well behind.

Ian took round 4 and Mike round 5. The spreadsheet does show the variability in these and many other rounds.

I took round 6 and Ian round 7. I then won the next two rounds, 8 and 9. Mike won rounds 10 and 11.

Then Dave got some good air for his Pitbull and won round 12 and not to be outdone Robert took round 13 with his FS4.3.

Ewan then got some better air at last won the next two rounds, 14 and 15 and I won the last round.

Mike and his trusty Pike Precision won by a good margin with the rest of the field following on behind. However, everyone did get some good air and at least one round win.

I am sure we all really enjoyed an excellent day on the hill. We had a break for lunch after round 8 and Ian and Cole had some fun with their Fastbak but had to give up after one arrival saw the loss of a servo pushrod.

At the end of the comp Ewan gave his lively Ahi some airtime and Ian and Mike did some hot-dogging!

Thanks to everyone for helping carry the kit up and down the hill and setting up the course.

Our next competition is 18 May, hope to see you then.

Regards

George
