Hi All

We were very lucky with the weather today with a sunny start and 25mph pretty square on East Lomond. As there were only 5 of us, we decided to fly three rounds at a time with two crow throughs.

Ewan started with 51, 45, 50 followed by me with 46,41,42. That was as quick as things got as the wind dropped just a little after the first 3 rounds. Mick Walsh joined us which was great, he is now based in Aberdeen and is hoping to join us for the winter leagues, he proved you don’t forget how to do F3F and flew his crossover well for 53,53,56. Dave started will with 52, 51, 49 showing a steady improvement.

This got a bit weird in round 4 with Robert landing on the top of the hill (perfectly as it turned out!) and Mick flying around the back of the lump on the right hand side and again getting away with it pretty much (just tail joiners to fix). Ewan put in 3 sub 50’s while I started cutting (in two out of 3) and Dave was solid. We stopped for a bite to eat and Mick built up his Needle to complete the rounds.

After the break, the air seemed smoother and the times picked up a bit, Ewan and Dave were both a good bit quicker than me in 2 out of 3 rounds so closing the gap and Mick went sub 50 with his needle in round 9.

We flew 3 more rounds to make it 12 in total and Ewan went quickest in all 3 finishing with an excellent 42.40 in round 12. I was consistent in the mid 40’s and Dave flew 3 sub 50’s too.

Quite a close result in the end with Ewan less than 100 points from the win and Dave pretty close in 3rd.

1 Peter Gunning 10718.53

2 Ewan Maxwell 10621.85

3 David Watson 10319.93

4 Mick Walsh 9386.70

5 Robert Carson 3999.35

FTD Peter Gunning 41.48

It wasn’t really cold but I think we all had cold hands by the end of it and we retired to the Pillars for coffee and cake. About as good a day as you could hope for in mid December and really good fun.

Happy Christmas, I hope Santa brings you all some nice toys and I hope to see you in the new year for our next comp on 21st Jan.

Peter
