PC Setups

Our current typical setups for New PC Systems for end-user.    

Simple List Guideline:

1. AVG Free or Avast! free (one) Antivirus. - Software MUST be setup then correctly after install. Server AV = ClamWin. I do NOT use the security suites. Uninstall possible existing default programs such as McAfee, etcetera.

2. Microsoft OS and Office Updates.

3. Superantispyware

4. Malwarebytes

5. doPDF "printer" - Optional on Win10. MS is just as good.

5. Windows Live Essentials, less "home" use options. Support to be dropped 2017 by MS, - Phased out.

6. A DVD Player may be needed.

7. Adobe PDF Reader and other Adobe Programs as desired.

8. TeamViewer, and setup for SETC.

9. Ammyy Support, likewise above. But can be problematic with AV.

10. DOS Prompt, and a second Windows Explorer - Icons Set to Run as Administrator.

11. Windows V:X.x Tutorial

12. Configure Desktop(s) appropriately, along with adding Users.

13. Additional Browsers - Opera.

14. SETC Network Drive MAP Batch Tools and sundry. - Set Icon Programs to Run as Administrator where necessary, such as CMD.

15. MS Office Viewers and Compatibility suite as applicable.

16. Sun JAVA install for MS-IE.

17. Install "Old" Version Windows NT Backup Program Set.

18. Outlook Connector as appropriate. Phase out as with new Oultook.com Server not needed. GONE.

19. Setup On-line MS Outlook.com eMail Account - Especially to preserve your Contacts/People eMail data. And GMAIL which has become more stable.

20. Make an Additional Login ID, and copy your original User Login Data to it. Make another additional separate Login ID - Make these all Administrator (s). This is for future in case of MS-OS Login ID, Profile Failure and PC immediate use.

21. Create a Restore Point from System Properties. "UserName Restore Point1" or some such.

22. Create a System Repair Disc on DVD, from Backup.

This is variable, and things change.
