![]() Central Scotland Adult ADHD Support Welcome!
We are a support group for adults with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder - we meet on a monthly basis on the first Thursday in the month in Edinburgh.
Our meetings are informal and loosely structured. We help each other with the symptoms and difficulties that adults with ADHD experience on a daily basis. We exchange information, talk about issues related to adult ADHD, and have a good time. All meetings are confidential, no judgements are made, and no issues are too delicate. For more details you can email us at info@addbal.co.uk.
We welcome all adults with or without a diagnosis, spouses, partners and close family members. We hold coffee bar meetings in Edinburgh on the first Thursday in the month. Our next Edinburgh meeting will take place at Espresso Mondo 116 Lothian Road, Edinburgh. The meeting will be on Thursday 3rd May 2012 starting at 6pm. There is a nice seating area with sofas and it is usually quiet enough to allow us to have a quiet chat amongst ourselves. Slightly more formal support group meetings are held on the second Thursday in the month, at present these are held at NHS Lothian Headquarters building, Waverley Gate, Waterloo Place. Please contact info@addbal.co.uk for information on these and a peer support self management starter pack. The Central Scotland Support Group is now associated with a the Scottish charity called Addressing the Balance (www.addressingthebalance.co.uk), which has been set up to support ADHD adults in Scotland. We are also hosting regular meetings in Glasgow once again and there is a coffee bar meeting on Sunday 4th March at Costa Coffee, 205 Sauchiehall Street, basement lounge. 2pm to 4:30pm. All are of course welcome to attend the coffee bar meetings meetings in Edinburgh and Glasgow. The Edinburgh support group numbers are increasing all the time and our Google Group egroup is available for members who have attended at least one meeting; discussion boards and further information on ADHD is available here.
If you require additional support between meetings then you can also visit the national ADHD website, http://www.aadd.org.uk/. Here you will find a fantastic forum to network with very helpful and understanding people, to to share your thoughts, ideas and concerns.
At the left hand side of this page are links to NHS Scotland and information regarding NHS guidelines which you may also find useful. SIGN Guideline 112 unfortunately does not extend to adults as yet, but it is encouraging that the first adult ADHD clinic in Scotland is now up and running at The Andrew Duncan Clinic, Edinburgh.
We look forward to meeting you! |
