Adult Leaders

As young men and women journey in their Catholic faith, they often rely on the guidance and support of adults. These adults might include the parents of the young men or women, other adults, registered adult leaders in the Scouting community, members of the laity or religious, and/or members of other faiths.

The San Bernardino Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting uses four Adult Religious Recognition Programs to recognize significant and outstanding contributions made by adults to the spiritual development of young men and women. These Adult Religious Recognition programs include:

Boy Scouts of America

Bronze Pelican

The Pelican has been used as a liturgical symbol since the early days of Christianity to denote the tender care of the young by a parent and the Church.

The Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting awards the Bronze Pelican, which is a diocesan recognition, to men and women who have made significant and outstanding contributions to the spiritual development of Catholic youth in the Scouting movement.
