Assistance for Landowners

Forest Thinning and Defensible Space

To request financial assistance from Santa Fe - Pojoaque SWCD for a forest thinning or a defensible space project:

1) Confirm your property falls within the boundaries of the Greater Santa Fe Fireshed (see the GSFFC map below).

2) Complete the Landowner Request for Assistance form below and mail to the address at the bottom of the form, or email to sfpswcd@gmail.com.

If you are considering requesting landowner assistance, the photo document below shows two images of an area recently thinned to basal areas between 40 and 60 square feet per acre. If you participate in a forest thinning project on your property, the after-treatment appearance of your forest will resemble the areas in the pictures shown here.


Noxious and Invasive Weed Management

To request financial assistance from Santa Fe - Pojoaque SWCD for a noxious/invasive weed management project:

1) Determine that your project qualifies under the terms of the program as outlined in the document below, entitled "Northern New Mexico Cooperative Weed Management Area." (Your location must be within our district boundaries as shown on the Map tab of this website. Your types of weeds must be on the approved list of Class A and B weeds. And, you must be willing to commit to payment of the required cost-share.)

2) Fill out and submit the Request for Assistance - Noxious Weed Management form, and submit to sfpswcd@gmail.com.

3) Call (505) 365-4047 and leave a message requesting a meeting with your local Weed Coordinator.

4) Once accepted to the program, landowners will be required to fill out and sign a Task Order.
