Potential Venue for 50th Reunion

Cheers to all our fellow classmates of Russell High School class of 1968.

We have been hard at work searching out venues that could accommodate our 50th reunion. As a result, we want to present to you what we believe to be our best option out of the three venues that we have looked at. We have been sensitive to the costs of all of the venues. Keep in mind that this is a daunting task and it will be important to rsvp as soon as you can to let us know if you are interested in attending and if so, if you will be bringing a guest or spouse with you. Obviously we need to get a count on how many will attend as soon as we can. Many of you have already offered to help with this reunion and we will be contacting you soon. Right now we just need to see how many are interested and reserve the venue. We are looking at a venue that has an opening for May 19th. We will be offering an informal gathering on the evening before on May 18th at the same venue and details be sent at a later date. The particulars are as follows but keep in mind there will be more that we can tweak along the way. Right now we just need to know how many participants we are planning for and if you are indeed interested we can have you send your check to cover your reservation for the event. Venue: The Wendell Coffee Golf & Event Center-Located at 1963 Hwy. 74 in Tyrone Georgia. This venue is conveniently located twenty minutes from the Atlanta Hartsfield Airport. It has a nine-hole golf course with a fee $13 to play for the first nine holes and $6 for the second nine holes. It also has an all grass nine-hole miniature putt-putt golf course that can be enjoyed by anyone that wants to have some fun on that Saturday during the day. That fee is $8.00 for two rounds. Wendell Coffee Golf & Event center also has a lake that welcomes fishing for the patrons. That fee is $10 for two people or $7.50 for an individual. You must supply your on fishing equipment and bring your chair. It is a beautiful and peaceful setting located on a beautiful 50 acre golf course setting.

They rent their Clubhouse for events which has the capacity to serve 100 guests @ $125.00 per hour up to 4 ½ hours. They allow 2 hours before the event to set up and 1 hour after the event to break down. There is a $100 fee for white tablecloths for all the tables. They offer catering with an 18% gratuity. This does not include desert. Beer can be purchased for $3.00 and wine for $6.00. The fee for the bartender for the night is $75.00. The event center offers a Simplicity Buffet catering for this reservation @ 22.00 per person which includes a choice of 2 entrees, 2 sides, salad, rolls & tea.

There is a $500.00 deposit required to hold the reservation.

They also have an event center ballroom-that has the capacity to seat 220 guests for a fee of $1500.00. The meal is catered. If our group reaches to this number of attendees then this is what we are looking at.

This is a spring gathering before vacations start and people get crazy busy with other schedules. It will be important to let us know as soon as possible if you will be attending as venues fill up quickly.

We are estimating the cost to cover Saturday night at around $48.00 to $50.00 per person.
