Membership

The club accrues expenses throughout the season, the major item being the hire of premises. To cover these costs we charge some small fees. The rates are agreed by a vote of the members at the Club Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The season runs from 1st September to 31st August with the AGM usually held in August.

Annual Membership

The cost of annual membership is £20, with a concessionary rate of £10 for Juniors (U18) and Senior Citizens (65+). This entitles the member to voting rights at the AGM and any Extraordinary General Meeting plus membership of our online Club.

Subscriptions

Members may pay an annual subscription of £60 that entitles them to free attendence on all club nights with the concessionary rate of £30. Thus the total cost for a standard member taking out an annual subscription will be £80 and the concessionary rate will be £40.

Alternatively for members who don't pay the annual subscription we charge an attendence fee of £4 per visit payable on the night with the concessionary rates £2. Attendence fees for non members is £6 a night with no concessions. For any new or prospective players we don't charge for the first attendence at the club.

English Chess Federation (ECF) Fee

For participation in KCCA matches or the internal Club Championship membership of the ECF is required so that the results of those games may be graded. The ECF offers a range of membership types but only Bronze which costs £18 for adults or £6 for juniors is required; Club members are encouraged to join the ECF.

Match Fee

There is a £1 board fee for all KCCA matches to cover entry fees, plus a £1.50 fee that will go toward the petrol expenses that the club offers to car drivers to transport team members to and from away games.

For entry to certain internal events we also charge a fee:
