Hello! I am Rafael Dix-Carneiro, an Associate Professor of Economics at Duke University.

I work on topics related to International Trade, Labor Economics and Development Economics. My research focuses on the labor market adjustment process in response to trade shocks. Other topics of interest include labor market informality, migration, firms' behavior in response to exchange rate shocks, and crime.

I am currently working as a consultant for the United States International Trade Commission helping them implement some of the models I have developed with collaborators. In the past, I have been an Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland (2011-2013), held visiting professor positions at Yale University (2018-2019) and at the University of Zurich (2022-2023), and worked as a consultant for the World Bank in a few occasions. 

I am currently an associate editor at Quantitative Economics, and have been an editor at Economia, the Journal of LACEA (2018-2023).

I am a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) in the ITI and DEV groups, and an Affiliate at the Bureau for Research and Economic Analysis of Development (BREAD).
