About PST Poster Project

The PST Poster Project celebrates Los Angeles art, the city’s art scene and the beauty of education in the streets, and is inspired by the Getty Museum’s upcoming Pacific Standard Time/Art in L.A. series of exhibitions.

Artist Kelly Thompson has created 30 sets of 12 hand-painted printed posters depict randomly selected events, artists, galleries and museums from the city’s historical art scene between the years 1945 and 1980.

December 10, 2011, all are invited to participate in the public distribution of these posters, and in the creation of a printed book about the process.

Each invitee will be given one or two individual posters. Instructions and supplies will be provided.

Once the poster is “installed” participants will document the placement by taking a photo. Each photo will be included in a printed photo book that will be release at the conclusion of the project. Each photo will be fully credited by listing name, location and date of installation.

My hope for this project is to bring together my fellow Angelinos so that they can learn something new about their city’s art history and institutions. I know I sure did!
