Juliana has taught English language arts for sixteen years to students in grades five through twelve in several districts in Bergen County, New Jersey.  She currently teaches sixth grade at Tenafly Middle School.

Her experience has been that students of all ages are capable of astounding achievements when they are afforded the freedom to choose how to demonstrate their learning and given caring, diligent teachers.  She continually seeks ways to differentiate instruction and use the technology that students embrace to help them learn.  She observes that, while students are masters of the many new tech tools for entertainment and peer communication, they need teachers to help them use those tools for intellectual growth.  As co-advisor to Tenafly Middle School's Citizens of the World Club she works with colleagues to foster global awareness and citizenship in her students, utilizing technology to connect, learn, and collaborate with teachers and students around the world and take action on global citizenship issues, like helping to build a dormitory  for a school in Uganda and helping a school in Ghana to stay connected via the Internet.

As part of her NJ EXCEL  course work for principal's certification, Juliana began working with Eric.  Their collaboration has resulted in the piloting of what has become known as the IOCS Program at New Milford High School.
