BELIZE JEX ANCESTRY

Belize Jex Ancestry

There are we believe two separate JEX lines known to have resided in Belize in the 19th and 20th century, ( also known as British Honduras for part of its history). One line is thought to come from Jamaica and one from the village Field Dalling in Norfolk, England. Below is the line that originated in Norfolk.

Daniel Jex born about 1760 married Maria Parke Green and had two children. Daniel was a farmer and miller. He was the miller at Hempstead Mill in Norfolk 1837 to 1839. Millers at this time were fairly well off and would probably be richer than the farmers and workers around them. His son Thomas baptised at kettlestone in Norfolk on 14th May 1792 married Mary Boyce in Field Dalling and they had twelve children, Mary in 1814, William in 1816, John in 1817, Elizabeth in 1819, all of these children were born in Field Dalling the family moved to Hunworth in Norfolk in 1920 and had Daniel in 1821, Thomas William in 1823, Maria Green in 1825, Deborah in 1827, Phoebe in 1829, Josiah in 1831, Eliza in 1833 and Dorcas in 1835. Some of these children were destined to have very adventurous lives.
