Travel rules

All faculty are eligible to travel by air and avail hotel facilities. The entitlement of class of travel by air and the cost of hotel where you can stay is decided by the grade pay. Please see the attached document for what you are eligible.

If you are traveling using project funds, then you have to settle the bill with the appropriate section (CSSP or CSIC or SID).

If you are traveling using IISc funds, you have to settle the bill with the finance section.

In all cases, enclose bills for everything (hotel, taxi etc.) and the boarding passes of the flights.

You can obtain an advance for the travel (form enclosed) and then settle it. You can also spend your money and then settle it directly. The latter is processed faster.

LTC rules

All faculty are required to declare their home town while joining.

Fresh recruits to Central Government are allowed to travel to their home town along with their families on three occasions in a block of four years and to any place in India on the fourth occasion. This facility shall be available to the Government officers only for the first two blocks of four years applicable after joining the Government for the first time. The blocks of 4 years shall apply with reference to the initial date of joining the Government even though the employee changes the job within Government subsequently. One can encash upto 10 days earned leave at each time availing LTC. This encashment is limited to total of 60 days. This 60 days will be not be deducted from the maximum amount of earned leave encashment at the time of retirement. Note that only 1 LTC (or hometown travel) is permitted per year. Moreover, you can avail LTC (or hometown travel) by applying only Casual Leave (you can also encash 10 days of earned leave). It is advisable that the encashment of earned leave while availing LTC be done after moving to PB-4 (after the initial three years as Assistant Professor).

The Government have decided to permit Government servants to travel by air to North Eastern Region or Jammu&Kashmir on LTC in lieu of home town.

The definition of family, for LTC purposes, is the employee's spouse, two unmarried children or divorced/separated daughter, parents (or stepmother but not stepfather), unmarried minor brothers, unmarried/divorced/separated sister wholly dependent on the employee
