Basic Comparison between Teraranger 1 range finder, Teraranger Rotating Lidar, Teraranger Tower and Lidar Lite

** The Teraranger Rotating Lidar is basically an improved version of the Teraranger 1, mounted on a rotating base. The sensing element used here is also an Infra red sensor, for eye protection. This is out of stock now, because the company is focussing on the use of non-rotating Lidars. The Teraranger Tower is one such product (http://www.teraranger.com/teraranger-tower/). This is basically 4 to 8 Teraranger 1 sensors mounted in a circular ring.

Visual Odometry Code:

This video shows the most advanced leg out there. It has been licensed by Freedom Innovations. Note the point where the user has to hitch back to go up the stairs. Also note the pause when he is going down the stairs. Up and Down stairs may be a really nice target motivation application for this work. I'll explore reaching out to this group to see if we can integrate with them.

This is the other active foot that I know is getting commercialized.

MDG To Do:

Look at defining the link between the Purdue hardware and the KCF hardware.

Perhaps there are two protocols/operational concepts:

1. The output from the Purdue module is highly processed information (stairs/no stairs ... 12" to the stairs, etc.)

2. The 2nd output is a stream of high bandwidth data
