Conlanging

A conlang, or constructed language, is a consciously created (human) language. Conlanging refers to the process of creating such a language, usually for entertainment.

qUALMS took a first shot a conlanging in Fall 2013, when we had a 90 minute "speed conlanging" workshop. See the webpage for the workshop for materials.

Those who are interested in conlanging should take a look at the Language Construction Kit, an excellent and free online guide to conlanging. The site is designed for non-linguistics, but teaches some of the linguistic concepts necessary to creating a realistic language.
