The Process

As with most work, there is a process involved. Here is a short synopsis.

  • Intake - Taking in/receiving the artwork. Often involves the careful dismantling of older frames, matting & glass, for a better view of the piece.

  • Examination & Evaluation - What type of medium is it? What kind of shape is it in? Is it an older piece in need of cleaning or even bathing (literally)? Are there any tears in need of mending? A new work... ready to go? Are there any Artist or customer concerns? etc.

  • Discussion - Talking to the client, about conservation & best practices, (perhaps). Discussing matting styles, sizing, colors. Choosing mounting, backing, glass types. Picking a frame size, color, & style to suit. Price - point consideration.

  • Quote - A quick quote, or an order form, with break-down, if need be.

And Mary is ready to start framing...
