Viola

I play Shenandoah on the viola with acoustic guitar intro on my Shenandoah Album - Shenandoah on Amazon.com - Shenandoah on iTunes - Shenandoah Spotify

I play a viola with a solid spruce top on the song Shenandoah.

I also play a viola with a maple top on some tracks on my other albums - here is my country music website with links to all my albums.

The maple top gives a different sound - here is a link to a maple Viola from ebay that is similar to what I use on some of my tracks.

(please note I may get a small commission if you purchase through my link) At the time I created this link the cost for the viola was $37.99. You need to set up the bridge and rosin the bow to get the viola working. The brand name shown in the picture is Astonvilla which is the brand on the viola I play on Hoedown and some of the other tracks. However in the write up they say the brand is generic.

Here are some links to inexpensive solid spruce top violas - not the same as what I play but they should be similar:

Viola - Solid Spruce Top at Amazon.com - Mendini 16-Inch MA250 Natural Varnish Solid Wood Viola with Case, Bow, Rosin, Bridge and Strings

The price of the spruce top viola was $89.99 when I made the link. If you purchase through the link above I will get a small commission - the item won't cost you any more, but you help support my website - thanks for you support!!

IMPORTANT NOTE: When you get a new Violin or Viola, you need to set it up correctly. This is especially true when you purchase an instrument online - instruments purchased online are normally shipped with the bridge flat against the face of the instrument so that they can be shipped. Information about how to set up a new violin or viola is at this link - click here
