The network was founded by the universities of Berne (Social Anthropology), Lausanne (History of Medicine and Public Health), Neuchâtel (Geography, Migration Studies [Coordinator]), and Zurich (Social and Cultural Anthropology). Later, the EPFL Lausanne (Laboratory of Urban Sociology) joined MOVE to complement the research portfolio of MOVE.
