COACHES
Glenn Beauchemin is originally from Rhode Island and moved to the Boston area in the late 1970s where, finally at the age of thirty-seven, he discovered rowing. Within a couple of years, while on the Men’s Comp team at Community Rowing, he began coaching and eventually found his way to MITRC. Glenn has been coaching at MITRC since 2009. He especially enjoys the club’s friendly, upbeat attitude as well as the eagerness of the rowers to learn.
Christine Chirch-Cassidy hails from Chicago where she started rowing as a high school freshman. She attended Purdue University where she competed for four years in the Women’s Varsity 8+ and served as the Club President from 2003 – 2004. After college, she joined Chicago Rowing Foundation as a high school women’s coach, and in the 9 years with the club her boats had several conference wins and 2 National appearances. For her last three years in Chicago, Christine coached Adult Recreational crews, Learn-to-row programs, and grew a program designed for Athletes on the Autism spectrum to gain access to the sport. Christine moved to Boston in January 2015 and has been with MITRC since 2017. The fantastic group of dedicated and enthusiastic rowers and spectacular sunrises keep her coming back season after season.
John Nichols is a native Bostonian who found his way to rowing late in life (post collegiate) after beating up his body by playing contact sport his whole life. Using rowing to lose weight and stay fit, his competitive nature eventually led him to row with CRI. He helped coach Learn-To-Row and Novice rowing prior to moving to Virginia where he was with Williamsburg Boat Club as a rower and as a coach for Middle School through Masters both sweep and sculling.
