I have been privileged to receive a few awards/ honors and be a part of various activities that have enriched me both professionally and personally.
Awards/Honors:
Recipient of the prestigious Robert T. Chien Memorial Award from the ECE Department at UIUC.
Recipient of the prestigious Thomas and Margaret Huang Research Award from UIUC.
Recipient of the prestigious Joan and Lalit Bahl Fellowship from the ECE Department at UIUC.
Received Research Assistantship from INRIA – Grenoble, France, Carnegie Mellon University, USA, the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA for conducting doctoral research in Computer Science.
Received the Outstanding Paper Award at the ACM International Conference on Multimodal Interfaces (ACM ICMI) 2015.
Received a travel award from the NIPS 2016 organizing committee (sponsored by IBM Research) to attend the conference and present a paper.
Received research assistantship for conducting research on Pedestrian Re-Identification from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-Madras), 2015 - present.
Received student assistantship for conducting research on Human Behavior Modeling from the Institute of Creative Technologies, University of Southern California, 2012 - 2013.
Received financial assistantship from the Institute of Creative Technologies, University of Southern California for attending the IEEE ICASSP 2014 conference.
Received departmental student assistantship for evaluating course-work related submissions for the courses Computer Vision (CS-574, Spring 2014) and Machine Learning (CS-567, Fall 2013) from the Computer Science Department, University of Southern California.
Awarded as the Best Student (ranked amongst top 100 students across India) by the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for academic excellence, in the year 2011.
Stood out as the departmental topper during my undergraduate studies (Rank: 1 in 120).
Activities:

Served as the interim chair of the Los Angeles (LA) Chapter of the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) (November, 2014 – August, 2015). Organized meetings, invited talks, etc. for exchange of knowledge and professional networking amongst individuals in the field, based in the Los Angeles area.
Member of Diabetes Awareness and You, a non-governmental organization based in Kolkata, India. I have organized several street marches and propaganda campaigns to spread awareness about this killer disease.
I also support Doctors Without Borders, a non-governmental organization and in the past have participated in the activities of the Los Angeles section of the organization.
