2018 Dharma Talk
Conscious Living - Putting Mindfulness to Work
Reverend Heng Sure is an American Buddhist monk, ordained for over 40 years, and one of the early disciples of the late Grand Master Hsuan Hua of the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas in California, USA. He is respectfully known for the 'three steps and one bow' pilgrimage to promote world peace over the course of two and a half years from 1977 to 1979. He is now the Director of Berkeley Buddhist Monastery and president of Dharma Realm Buddhist Association.
Reverend Heng Sure is returning this year to Melbourne for a two-day lecture on the introspective topics of - Beyond Mindfulness: Next Steps in Buddhist Practice - Conscious Living: Putting Mindfulness to Work.
In the recent decade, we have constantly come across the term "mindfulness" – from a 6-week intensive Mindfulness Leadership training course to numerous apps available for download on our smart devices, but why mindfulness? Is it a subject of wellbeing that everyone should obtain through pursuing those external activities? And if it is not really just a commercialised feel-good term then how do we incorporate it into our everyday life to better ourselves and others?
There still seem to be so much that we do not understand on this subject, yet if we believe there must be some benefits in having mindfulness and are keen to explore then come along for some practical instructions by Reverend Heng Sure. The talks will be held at two convenient locations:
Session 1 - Beyond Mindfulness: Next Steps in Buddhist Practice | Fri, 20 April 2018 | 6:30pm - 8pm | University of Melbourne, G73 Theatrette, 200 Berkeley Street, Carlton Victoria 3053
Session 2 - Conscious Living: Putting Mindfulness to Work | Sat, 21 April 2018 | 2:00pm - 5pm | Dapur (located within the Indonesian Village) – CERES Community Environment Park, Cnr of Lee St & Roberts St
