About

To encourage and facilitate the improvement of mathematics teacher education across the state of Mississippi.

Who We Are

In recognition of a need for greater collaboration between mathematics teacher educators in Mississippi, a group representing the major colleges in universities in Mississippi was established in 2007. This group, known as the Mississippi Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (MAMTE), is the official state-level affiliate of the national organization Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE). MAMTE’s goal is to engage mathematics educators from across the state to collaborate in ways that improve mathematics achievement among K-12 students.

Our History

Since 2007, the MAMTE members have met annually for a symposium to share ideas, bring in outside experts in mathematics education, and to continue to work toward improving practices in ways that enhance mathematics achievement. Currently the MAMTE membership includes approximately 50 members, representing 16 Mississippi institutions of higher learning.
