Mentor of Undergraduate Research
Holden Paz – Currently mentoring in molecular techniques, building phylogenies, and development of an independent research project on Trichomycterus catfishes from South America. Presented his research as an oral paper in Rochester, NY at the 2018 Joint Meeting of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists.
Kathlene “Kate” Joyce – Mentored in molecular techniques, professional speaking, and development of an independent research project on Slimy Salamanders (Plethodon spp.) of Alabama. Ms. Joyce presented her research at This is Research, a student symposium at Auburn University and at the 2016 Joint Meeting of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists in New Orleans, LA. Her publication is in review with Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution. Ms. Joyce is currently a graduate student at University of Alabama Birmingham, Southern Research.
Erika Krahl – Mentored in molecular techniques, and helped develop independent research project on the Broadstripe Shiner, Pteronotropis euryzonus. This research was presented by Ms. Krahl at the 2013 Southeastern Fishes Council meeting and at the 2014 Joint Meeting of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists in Chattanooga, TN. The research was published in 2016. Ms. Krahl is current pursuing her Master’s degree at Southern Illinois University Carbondale
