Our close-up magician and fantastic band Shakedown are returning, and there will be the chance to win a prize in our amazing raffle. It promises to be a great evening and a perfect way to kick off the festive season.

Walking Group
The walks are usually 4 to 6 miles long and it’s a good idea to bring a drink and energy snack on the walk. In June we enjoyed a walk and picnic at the old Stobswood Opencast mine which has been transformed with fields, lakes and wildflower meadows. The picture shows the walking group with a relic of the mine: an old excavator bucket.
The next upcoming walks are:
Monday 3rd July: Fontburn, led by Leigh and Neil 787115
Thursday 20th July: Wannie Line, led by David 772225
Monday 7th August: Alnwick, led by Liz 07791 604166
Thursday 17th August: Paddock Wood, led by Penny 788278
Monday 4th September: TBC, led by Sheena and Jan
New walkers are always welcome.

Christian Vision for Men
The Christian Vision for Men group has monthly breakfasts at the Angler's Arms. Our summer breakfasts will be on Saturday 29th July and Saturday 26th August at 8.30am.
Our speakers on these mornings will be our own members, Neil Collin in July and Tony Patrick in August. Each of them will talk about their own journeys of faith.
The charge for those attending each breakfast is £11.

Longhorsley Local History Society
LLHS had a very successful meeting in June. After a short AGM, Garry Ritchie very kindly and at very short notice stepped in to give us a very informative talk on the Northumberland Village Halls’ oral history project being run by Community Action Northumberland.
Maureen Taylor then gave us a lovely talk on the discovery of the archive documents compiled by June Thorns on the Millennium wall hanging and we were privileged to have as guests at the meeting, June and Ray Thorns’ daughter and her husband and Muriel Florentine, who produced the artwork, and her daughter, Diane. The evening concluded with refreshments and the chance for everyone to have a look at the documents from both talks and the LLHS display cabinet.
The next project for LLHS is to do some research on the lovely church kneelers and possibly produce a small booklet about them, detailing who was involved and who they commemorate.
I would be grateful if anyone who has any information could contact Penny Ford on 788278 or penelopeford636@btinternet.com.
Longhorsley WI
Beeswing Singing Group kept us brilliantly entertained at our last meeting with local songs and Sea Shanties. They had originally been a group of 3 men and 1 woman but due to death and illness they were down to 2 men.
At our next meeting, on Thursday 6th July at 7.30pm, we will be learning about Acupuncture from Louise Percival.
Guests are always welcome, as are new Members who can try us out before they join.

Ladies Lunch Group
The Ladies Lunch Group’s next outing will be to Eshott Hall on the 11th July at 12.30pm. The venue requires a £5 deposit by the 1st July so it is a tight deadline to book for this event.
To anyone who wants to attend and can access 11 Church View, please put your deposit in an envelope with your name on it and post it through my door. Otherwise, if this is too difficult or inconvenient then please text on 07909 992046 or email francesmurphy48@gmail.com confirming you are coming and I will take care of it and I can be repaid when we meet.
In August there will be a Ladies Lunch on Wednesday 16th August at 12.30pm at the Cook and Barker.
Exercise to Music
We are continuing to exercise in the Village Hall on Monday mornings from 9.15 to 10.15am. New members are most welcome.
In July we meet on the 3rd, 10th and 17th, and if we decide to continue with two more in July then members will be notified.
We then have a break and restart on the 4th September.
