Our Communities
Parent-Infant/Toddler Community
About Our Program
Our Parent Infant Community is based on the Montessori approach to learning, with observation of the child. This method allows the child meaningful experiences in a prepared environment that is guided by the trained Directress.
The child has the opportunity to explore and learn basic skills as they spend time in the environment. The class is equipped with learning materials and furniture appropriate for this age group.
As a result of the adjustment need of infants, parents are advised to do a phasing in schedule of 3 days of 45 minutes daily with the child before actual drop-off.
Also, parents of all breast fed infants needs to provide frozen breast milk (labeled with the date and child’s name) which can be fed to the child as needed. Bottle fed infants also need their own premixed formula, baby food and cereal. The school only provides a snack once solid food has been introduced.
Each child will be provided with their own crib, however, parents need to bring their own sheets and blankets (please label these items).
Infant Daily Report
The Infant Daily Report is prepared each day for every child. This report details nap times, feeding schedule and amounts, child’s mood, . . . It is prepared for you every day so that you are informed as to your child’s well-being while in our care.

The Montessori Classroom
Practical Life
These real life exercises are the beginning point of the Montessori environment. They will help children grow in independence, promote concentration, develop self-control and a stronger sense of order. The materials in this area encourage a spirit of friendliness and helpfulness, teaching children to become more responsible for themselves and their environment.
Sensorial
Working with sensorial materials will teach children to understand what they see. The equipment is designed to refine the senses and help children learn to compare, contrast and discriminate the world around them.
Language
We use phonics systems, along with Montessori Method. The pre-reading skills and phonetic understandings children acquire will make the excitement of reading come more fluidly. By understanding the language phonetic patterns, future reading can come more naturally.
Math
Children build up their concept of numbers and the decimal system beginning with one to one correspondence and number identification. This continues on to place the value of zero. All math concepts are learned and internalized through the manipulation of concrete objects.
Geography/Culture
Puzzle maps help children to visualize their world. Children are encouraged to “develop an awareness of their own culture and become accepting of others”.
Science
Nomenclature cards, hands-on activities and actual objects broaden a child’s awareness of the abundance of science in their everyday life. Science experiments are carried out by the children in the classroom throughout the year.
Art
The art center is a staple in the classroom and is available at all times for the children’s individual use. Numerous planned art projects are incorporated into our program throughout the year.
