Before and After Care

Breakfast

School age students enrolled in our Before Care program are provided with a breakfast and milk. Juice will be provided to students who are lactose intolerant, or who may have other milk allergies. Breakfast is served until 8:10 am.

Snack Time

After care students are provided with a daily snack, and a juice. Snacks provided by the childcare center follow the health guidelines set forth by the USDA. These guidelines stipulate that:

• snacks cannot exceed 200 calories per serving

• the fat content of the snack served is capped at 35% of total calories (saturated fats must be less than 10% and there are to be no trans fats)

• sugar is capped at 35% of the weight of the snack provided

Other nutritional requirements state that "snacks must either be rich in whole grains, contain at least a quarter cup of fruit and/or vegetables, have a fruit, vegetable, protein food, or dairy product as the first ingredient, or contain 10% or more of the percent daily value of potassium, dietary fiber, vitamin D, or calcium." Homework/Tutoring/Supplemental Work

During this academic segment of our after care program, students are supervised as they complete their homework assignments. Additionally, homework assignments are reviewed and checked by staff. Students who are having difficulty with assignments will be provided with small group tutoring. If students do not have assigned homework they have the option to read a book from our library, read their own book, or staff will provide students with grade appropriate learning material as supplementary work.
