Ordering from the UK

If you're in the UK it's now easier to buy FIGnition:

International Orders

Currently, if you're outside the UK, the easiest way to buy a FIGnition is through Paypal. All you need to do is log in; make a payment to TheOriginalSnial@gmail.com and supply your address.

FIGnition is now available for both PAL and NTSC regions, when you place an order, let me know which video firmware you need!

FIGnition is costed at £19.77 + Postage given by the UK Royal Mail price finder according to whether you want standard or recorded/signed-for delivery. I'm perfectly happy if you send the money in your local currency, but I always set the price based on today's exchange rate from the BBC. Examples in GBP are given below (correct as of October 28, 2011):

My usual delivery policy is to wait up to a few days for enough sales to be sent as a small group, then dispatch them. So you might wait for up to a week. When I send your FIGnition I'll invite you to the FIGnition google group (based on your contact email address paypal sends me) where you'll be able to get advice and information about the current goings on in FIGnition.

Kit Contents

When FIGnition is sold, in all cases, FIGnition is supplied as a kit. You'll get a remittance slip to say thanks for buying a FIGnition; the circuit board; all the components and its AVR Microcontroller will be pre-programmed. Note: you won't get a phono lead, nor a USB lead as I assume most people have more than enough cables at home already! Assembly instructions are published on this site.

Cases

FIGnition doesn't (yet) include a case, but a FIGnition owner [contact email to come] will be happy to supply you with a case for £5.00 including packaging and postage.

Construct It

Although it will cost you a bit more in effort and money, you can construct a FIGnition using nothing more than basic soldering equipment the raw set of components and veroboard.

You'll find the hardware and software for FIGnition is partially opened-sourced on GitHub and includes the source code for the keyboard driver, the startup screen, the main code; the Flash disk driver as well as the circuit layout for the veroboard version using my open-source stripboard designer: Stripes. My very first pre-prototype is of this kind and it works!!! Let me know if you've managed the same!

Education

More and more FIGnitions are being ordered by schools and colleges in the UK for STEM* clubs and workshops. For business reasons it may be inconvenient to buy through Paypal or the shopping cart and in these cases it's best to contact me and then we'll follow a more formal purchasing procedure:

1. A formal order from the school or college for the kit(s).
2. An invoice from me, which includes the payment method details.
   
3. Payment from the school or college.
4. A delivery from me (with a receipt sent by email and in the package).
