Your Host/your Guide/your Friend

It all began for me after the terrible earthquake of Gujarat in Jan-2001. We, the survivors were put in the awkward situation of having to accept aid. At the age of 18 I had to leave my school to help to support my family by working with various organizations that came to Kutch for Earthquake relief, rescue and rehabilitation. I worked with organizations such as the UN World Food Programme, the Swedish Rescue Service Agency and Help Age India. When the situation improved, I successfully pursued my Bachelor of Commerce degree and also joined the National Cadet Corps as an extra curriculum activity and took part in various adventurous activities such as rock climbing, Para-sailing, trekking, camping and parade. Soon after my graduation, I found job as project coordinator in the Shroff Foundation Trust. During this period I came in close contact with the many different cultures and communities of Kutch and began learning about their customs, traditions, faith and beliefs, costumes and most interesting of all - their harmonious existence with their cattle in the Rann of Kutch and that fascinated me.

I became very passionate about sharing my love and knowledge of Kutch with foreigners and as a result I started hosting and guiding tourists. Then an opportunity arose to go to the UK. In other words I needed to leave my cozy family environment, be ready to adapt to western culture and manage money. I was lucky enough to get the support of family and friends and went off to study Health and Social Care in Birmingham. I lived in Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire (Shakespeare’s county) where I didn’t let any opportunities pass that bumped into me - whether it was Richard Gordon’s Yoga class in Offchurch Village, writing poetry, singing folk songs in Leamington Peace Festival and Kenilworth Festival or meeting many lovely and interesting people who influenced my life in one or another way and gifted me a wealth of good memories.

In Sept-2009 I returned to Bhuj Kutch to restore my life and “Kutch Adventures India is now formed.

Now-a-days I’m hosting and guiding tourists, proudly showing them the splendid crafts of Kutch, hanging out with local people and exploring stunning landscape.

If you fancy visiting off the beaten trails in India, meeting traditional people, love being in the middle of nowhere, trekking the hills and swimming in the Arabian Sea then Kutch is the perfect wandering region for you...

Be welcome in my little world and “Let’s get Lost” out of this big world :-)
