Conversation with Thane Betha over Vampirisim

You tell Betha 'Hail.'

Betha tells you 'yes?'

You tell Betha 'I am a little confused, do you mind answering a couple of questions over this war?'

Betha tells you 'I dont see the point but ask whatever you wish.'

You tell Betha 'You are aware that your dwarf is now a demon, not a dwarf Thane?'

Betha tells you 'I have not countered that issue'

You tell Betha 'What does that mean Thane?'

Betha tells you 'I realize this 'dwarf' is not as he once was. I've not once stated that he's become something completely different from his previous life.'

You tell Betha 'Would you like me to direct you to the material Thane? This knowledge is known to Algoron.'

VAMPIRES

Vampires are demons inside of a corpse, however they do retain the

memories of the soulless corpse that they host. They have no heartbeats or

body temperature and they do not breathe. They are therefore unseen in dark

rooms by dark vision and infravision. They are immune to strangle type

attacks and gasses and will not drown in the ocean or underwater. Since the

body in which the demon lives is dead, vampires do not ever age once they

are created. They have a vampire face and a mortal face. The vampire face

is a more distinctive evil face that is a mixture of the demon and the

mortal corpse. They fight better in vampire face but if you allow the demon

inside to control you for too long you wont be able to revert back to your

mortal face. ALL vampires are evil. Their vulnerability to sunlight means

they are restricted to indoor/underground locations in the daytime.

Betha tells you 'Yes, he is of Fatale. But others are as well, and yes, he possess some strange powers from this blood hunger. Yes, I realize he frightens Gareth. '

Betha tells you 'All I've said all along is that we should watch him and see if he is truly as evil as you say, or if he can control himself and live among us successfully. There will be more to come, you know. It is something we must learn to deal with.'

You tell Betha 'But you have no qualms of living with a demon who inhabits the body of your poor dwarf?'

You tell Betha 'Do you also think that the demon will revere his loyalty to Wargar over all other things?'

Betha tells you 'Tell me sir, who are you willing to sacrifice for a treatment that may very well fail?'

You tell Betha 'The dwarf is gone Thane, if it were one of my own men I would risk anything to purge the demon and have him back, no matter how foolish he might have been to allow this curse to befall him.'

Betha tells you 'How do you know he would not stand more loyal to Wargar than to another? HOW. DO. YOU. KNOW?'

You tell Betha 'I struggle to contemplate how a demon might place the loyalty of Wargar and to the dwarves over his own demonic nature.'

Betha tells you 'there is noone to say that Reirak invited this upon himself. And without watching them, one cannot know what they are truly going to be loyal to. If he is any threat to Wargar or its allies, of course I'd send him away instantly.'

You tell Betha 'Do you trust the demon Thane?'

You tell Betha 'Do you trust a demon to fight valiantly for Wargar? What if Malachive should come with an army of undead. Will its loyalty be to the Mountain, or to his soulless kin?'

Betha tells you 'I do not trust or distrust him at this point. I watch him, carefully, as I would any other new dwarf who comes into this mountain. I've personally been sacrificed by others who serve here who are not even of the red aura. I learn to judge by action, not by what others say I should'

You tell Betha 'I would understand yourself raising to the defence of a dwarf Thane, but a demon is more questionable.'

You tell Betha 'Do not get me wrong Thane, I am respectful of your work. Your peace with Shalonesti was most impressive.'

You tell Betha 'But by Nadrik a dwarf is as stubborn as this land is dark!'

You tell Betha 'But better to drink with than an elf we say here in Gareth.'

You tell Betha 'I am saddened at the vehement defence of the demon within your halls Thane, and will pray for the safe return of Reirak, and for the purging of his parasitic undead monster.'

You tell Betha 'I know not how long you intend to watch him for, but I fear his nature will betray you when you will need strength the most.'

You tell Betha 'If you are ever in need of a Priest of Nadrik to see this exorcism through, then you may call upon my assistance.'

Betha tells you 'Gareth obviously holds no respect for me as Thane. If any of you did, you'd listen and realize that I, and all of the mountain, are doing the best we can in this situation. '

Betha tells you 'If Reirak can be returned to normal and he and others survive it, then it will likely be done. But it will take time for us to work this out. Unfortunately, knights arent willing to exercise patience.'

You tell Betha 'However I suspect that should the issue be forced as to his exorcism, it has no interest in ending its hold on the shell and will flee to Bloodlust.'

Betha tells you 'Cliath stated that any not trusted should not be allowed to help. Unfortunately, Gareth proves themselves untrustworthy in this issue.'

You tell Betha 'I understand that the demon was to be kept in the halls till the exorcism was available Thane?'

You tell Betha 'This has not occurred.'

Betha tells you 'I did not say that. I stated clearly that he is to serve here as will any dwarf. He will aid any who call for help even when it is a risk to his own life.'

You tell Betha 'Have you wondered why a demon should wish to place his life before a dwarf Thane?'

Betha tells you 'I just told you, I've seen him risk his own life for a dwarf. Do you not understand this?'

You tell Betha 'One of the evil and soulless life making the virtuous stance of protecting a living dwarf, perhaps of Austinian?'

You tell Betha 'Do you not wonder why? Your trust is great in this demon.'

Betha tells you 'enough. You've stated your position. We need no more of this.'

You tell Betha 'Very well Thane, I thank you for your time.'

You tell Betha 'Fair luck to finding your cure, and even more for getting the demon to submit to it.'
