Tania's seed germination project

Post date: Sep 8, 2014 10:00:24 AM

Tania undertook a seed germination project. Mama gave her a clear plastic box and some paper towels.

She made the paper towels damp and spread them over the box.

In one half of the box she put fenugreek (methi) seeds and on the other side she put mustard (rye) seeds.

She put the box with the seeds in a clear plastic ziploc bag, sealed the bag and placed it on a window sill.

After 1 day this is what the seeds looked like:

You can see that both the mustard and the fenugreek seeds have sprouted and have little white shoots coming out of them.

Now that the seeds had sprouted Tania took the box out of the ziploc bag and left it on the window sill.

After 2 days:

The mustard is progressing faster than the fenugreek. You can already see little green leaves coming out of the mustard seeds. The fenugreek sprouts have become bigger but there is no sign of green leaves yet.

After 3 days:

The mustard leaves have become bigger. The fenugreek sprouts are starting to show a tinge of green, you can see if you look carefully.

After 4 days:

At this point Tania added a little mud. Now the mustard is not showing much change but the fenugreek is finally has tiny green leaves.

After 5 days:

The fenugreek is growing some more. There is no visible change in the mustard.

After 6 days:

The fenugreek is still showing progress with new bigger leaves.

At this point Tania's cat Kazoo ate both the mustard and the fenugreek leaves and the project ended.

Kazoo was very satisfied. This was the most tasty project Tania had undertaken so far.
