The main objective of the pedagogical robotics work is to provide an open platform for people without technical skill interested on simple robotics experiment
The low cost pedagogical robotics environment aims to provide a suit of software and hardware tools for playing with robots. This is the case of countries where the commercial systems are too expensive.
The picture bellow show the components of a pedagogical robotics environment. These components are:
i) a programming software,
ii) a control unity generally a simple processor and
iii) a mechanical device that uses electrical motors and sensors to achieve movements and senses the environment.
Since 2006 I have been advising students in scientific initiation program to provide a free programming environment and a control unity capable of USB connection.
Low Cost Pedagogical Robotics Components
Control Unity: The control unity was a modified Gogo Board, with USB interface. Gogo Board is freely available and has a Logo programing capability
Programming Environment: The Programming environment is an iconic Logo environment based on LogoBlocks, so that people that is not fluent in Logo, can easily generate his/her experiment and download the application to the control unity
