shorts and skirts

Post date: Jun 4, 2010 4:37:35 AM

I was doing a little research about wearing shorts in Japan, Tokyo, Kyoto ect. And as the overall results have come to this:

shorts are okay IF the are not shorter than where your middle finger touches the sides of your leg.

So basically follow Caprica's rules; DON'T BE A DRESS CODE VIOLATOR!! ; )

I even know a girl from Japan that's from the Gifu prefecture, and she's traveled to Kyoto and Tokyo. She has had no problem wearing shorts. She wasn't stared down on, and she wasn't really looked at as a prostitute. Now, she did say that booty shorts will give you some unwanted attention, so wearing those are probably WAY out of the question. She said it's hot and humid during the summer time in Japan, and she thinks I would be "crazy not to wear shorts" And I don't plan to wear short shorts. I don't want to have to worry about feeling gross and uncomfortable while we're there. And frankly, I think skirts are a bit more risky. Especially if there not like our uniform skirts. Not that I'm saying that the girls shouldn't wear skirts. But my personal opinion is that skirts aren't that...secured. When my friend wears skirts, she always has to be very cautious when she's walking up stairs, or sitting down. I don't want to have that constant fear of someone looking up my skirt. I'm also not used to wearing skirts, some girls that are going on the trip wear skirts often, and know how to move in one. But I don't think I'll be able to master the art and practice of wearing skirt in just a week. I have thought the question, "why not just wear shorts under your skirt?" Well, then what's the point in wearing a skirt? now you have a skirt and shorts on and you'll just be hotter than before. Yes, we should dress more conservative in Japan. I think showing bra straps is tacky anywhere you go, and wearing a spaghetti strap shirt/dress is showing too much. But compared to wearing that, I don't see wearing shorts as a big deal. It's also in "style" during the summertime, so if you're wearing cool sort of dressy shorts, we would be considered stylish. 8D Not faded running and/or waistband shorts. I think those should only be worn around the house and the hotel. So basically, if the shorts don't violate the school rules, and if they are button shorts, the they're okay/suitable/acceptable to wear in Japan.

Like I said, to more skirts are more...flashy. If you're going to let the girls wear skirts, then why not let us wear some nice dressy shorts?
