Earthquake Report

This app downloads the United States Geological Survey (USGS) data on worldwide earthquake activities that occurred during the past 2 weeks. Every time the app is ran the most recent earthquakes, having a magnitude of 2.5 and above on the Richter scale, are added to the list of earthquakes in real time.

The earthquakes list includes the location, coordinated universal time (UTC), latitude, longitude and magnitude data.

A map view can be generated for each earthquake listed in the table view by entering its latitude and longitude coordinates on a 2nd view. The map will then be scaled to the general earthquake region, pin-pointing the epicenter of the quake by means of a drop pin.

To evaluate the relative severity of earthquakes a list of the worst earthquakes in history is provided on a third view.

Earthquake News

This app downloads the United States Geological Survey (USGS) data on worldwide earthquake activities that occurred during the past 2 weeks. Every time the app is ran the most recent earthquakes 2.5 and above on the Richter scale are added to the list of earthquakes in real time.

The earthquakes list includes location, magnitude, coordinated universal time ( UTC), latitude and longitude coordinates data.

What makes this app different from the free "Earthquake Report" version is that the map is generated for each earthquake listed in the table view by simply tapping on the table view row, rather than having to enter the latitude and longitude coordinates. The map will then be scaled to the general earthquake region, pinpointing the epicenter of the quake with a drop pin symbol. The current location of the iPhone is also shown with a blue circle on the map.

A second view allows for input of latitude and longitude coordinates to visualize associated locations.

To evaluate the relative severity of earthquake magnitudes a list of the worst earthquakes in recorded history is provided on a third view.
