Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn

A son of Queen Victoria, Prince Arthur was named Duke of Connaught and Strathearn and Earl of Sussex in 1874. He visited Ionic Lodge, No. 25, in 1890 when he was Provincial Grand Master of Sussex and District Grand Master of Bombay. When his brother King Edward VII was crowned in 1902 and resigned the office of Grand Master, Prince Arthur was elected Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of England, and was annually re-elected to that office until 1939. He served as the Governor General of Canada from 1911 to 1916.

In 1914 he was made an honourary life member of Ionic Lodge, No. 25.
