Environmental challenges

We study the mechanisms that allow organisms to cope with stressors. Currently we are examining: 1) the effects of rapidly changing environmental conditions , 2) cross-generational effects of stress exposure, and 3) the long-term consequences of stress exposure to better predict how organisms will respond to environmental challenges. Our research takes an integrative approach and incorporates techniques across levels of analysis from molecular to whole organism responses. Students and post-docs engage in all aspects of the scientific process and gain exposure to a wide array of techniques (e.g., mist-netting, nest monitoring, behavioral assays, qPCR, hormone analyses etc.) while conducting research in the field and lab.
