1 Newell Fiske Ford

Newell Fiske Ford was born 10 Mar 1912 in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon, the son of Olin Fisk Ford and his wife Esma Arn Newell. He was the eldest child of three, including his siblings Loren Ford and Yvonne Ford who perhaps was also known as "Phoebe". In 1920 and 1930 the family is enumerated living at Jennings Lodge, Clackamas County, Oregon. However in 1940 Newell is living as a single man in Berkeley, Alameda County, California. Newell married firstly to Alysoun Huntley probably in California, they are listed together in the Voter Registration book in 1944, but in the 1940 Census she is living in New York City. In 1952 he and his first wife Alysoun built their dream house at 244 Santa Rita in Palo Alto, California. He was promoted to Associate Professor of English at Stanford in 1955 (source). He and Alysoun divorced Jul 1966 in Santa Clara County; he married secondly Mary Ellen Charlton. He became a Professor Emeritus of English. He died 4 Apr 1989 at his home in Palo Alto.

2 Olin Fisk Ford

Olin Fisk Ford was born 1 Oct 1878 in Franklin County, Arkansas, the son of William Thomas B Ford and his wife Mary Catherine "Mollie" Ivey. He was their eldest child of four, his younger siblings were Burgess Francis Ford, Sadie Evelyn Ford and Ivy Dorothy Ford. He is enumerated in the 1900 US Federal Census living in Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, and in 1910 as a grocer, he is enumerated in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon. On 16 Feb 1911 in Multnomah County, he married Esma Arn Newell. They had three children: Newell Fiske Ford (1912-1989), Lorin Duboise Ford (1914-1995, married Frances Meeks), and Yvonne Ford (1916-2009, married in 1939 Waldo Bowman).

In 1938 while returning from Manila to Victoria, she states in a ship's passenger list that she was born in Bunker Hill, Kansas. (Source)
