Colloquium/Seminar Introduction

Evan obtained his undergraduate degree (Physics & Astronomy) in Galway and his Masters at DAMTP in Cambridge (Mathematics). He then went on to do his PhD at Jodrell Bank (Thesis: "The Transient Radio Sky"). He then moved to Bonn to work as a postdoctoral researcher. This was followed by a CAASTRO Senior Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne where he was additionally the CAASTRO Dynamic Theme Scientist. He worked in the role of Project Scientist for the SKA Organisation for 6 years. During that time, in 2019, he was awarded the MERAC Prize in Observational Astrophysics from the European Astronomical Society. He escaped England just before Brexit to work as Lecturer Above-the-Bar in Astrophysics in Galway, and then (since 2022) as Associate Professor in Radio Astronomy at Trinity College Dublin, where he is also the Director of the Rosse Observatory and Head of the Irish LOFAR telescope.
