Session Description: In today's environment of higher education, partnerships help build efficiencies and effectiveness (Doss, 2014). Aligning academic offerings with the needs of the workforce are crucial as we move forward in the current landscape (Itasca, 2010). This presentation will look at lessons learned in a collaboratory effort to build a Palliative Care professional development MOOC in conjunction with three professional organizations. This presentation will utilize video and audience participation through discussion and interaction to reinforce the concepts being shared. Participants will be encouraged to view partnerships through a new lens and consider ways to innovatively approach new programs and new projects with developing efficiencies through collaboration.

Purpose
To create a professional development MOOC to promote excellence in palliative care.
- Audience: Health care professionals and home health care providers
- Provide access to palliative care experts from around the country to help assist with the quality of care offered to patients
- c-MOOC: the MOOC partners will connect with each other and with organizations and global experts to provide a high quality experience for learners in locations around the country.

November 2013 - Approved for Grant Funding
June 2014 - Partner Contract Agreement Finalized
July-October 2014 - Syllabus Refined / Guest Speakers' Recordings
November 2014 - Soft Launch
December 2014 - Continuing Ed Agreement

MOOC is free for non-credit seekers, $60 for those seeking credit
SIU School of Medicine is administering credit
- Physicians: Maximum of 6.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™
- Nurses: Maximum of 6.0 contact hours.
- Other (nursing home administrators, social workers, professional counselors/clinical counselors, and clinical psychologists): 6 CE hours.
