 Short Résumé

I was born in Patras, a city in the South of Greece. I got my Bachelor from the Department of Economics of the University of Patras. I then moved to Athens University of Economics and Business where I earned a Master in Economics. I left Greece in order to continue with my studies abroad. I earned a PhD and a Master in Economics from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Throughout my years as a PhD student I had been regularly visiting Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. In September 2012 I joined the DG for Economics, Statistics and Research at the Bank of Italy as a research fellow and in December 2013 I secured a permanent position in the same DG as an economist. I was the first foreigner to achieve this in the history of the institution. In July 2016 I became an IZA research affiliate and in the summer 2017 I visited the Research Department of the Bank of Spain. In September 2018 I moved back to academia and joined the University of Mannheim as a researcher. In November 2021 I became an IZA research fellow and in September 2023 I started working at ZEW.
