Portraits of Diverse Architects

CALL FOR ARTISTS: PORTRAITS OF ARCHITECTS

Applications due March 28, 2016 / no fee to apply

The AIA Seattle Diversity Roundtable invites artists to submit qualifications to prepare portraits of architects for exhibit at the Seattle City Hall Bertha Knight Landes Room, as part of the mid-June 18th annual Solstice celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Roundtable's founding.

The exhibit expands on the Portraits of Architects exhibit (see picture herewith) organized in 2015 by AIA Women in Design, adding portraits of Diverse Fellows -- Roundtable participants/veterans recognized by the AIA College of Fellows for their significant endeavors to advance the profession and practice of architecture. The 194 Seattle-area Fellows recognized since the organization's 1894 establishment include 22 women and 8 from diverse racial/ethnic backgrounds.

Although the Roundtable can not offer compensation for the artwork, the exhibit and related promotion/announcement will recognize participating artists as well as their subjects, with a special celebration at the opening event. The exhibit will travel to local galleries and other venues in and beyond the Seattle area following its opening showing at Seattle City Hall, potentially including the recently-opened Center for Architecture and Design.

The Roundtable will provide participating artists with photographs and information about the Fellows by April 22, for completion and submission of artwork by May 27, 2016.

To indicate your willingness to prepare a portrait, please submit the attached form to Roundtable CoChair Meredith Everist, everistm@baylisarchitects.com by Monday March 28.
