Netgear

The router shown here is a Netgear DG834G, but this will probably be very similar for any Netgear Router.

(1) Open your web browser and go to the IP address of your router, in this case 192.168.0.1. It will then ask you to enter your username and password

(2) Username will be admin (you can't change it). Password is password unless you've changed it. Once logged in, you'll see

(3). Click "Services" on the left hand side

(4) [note, I've already got the DAIDE service set up]. Click "Add" and fill in the details as shown in

(5). Click Apply. Then click "Firewall Rules" on the left hand side

(6). Click the lower Add button (the one under Inbound services). Fill in the form as shown in

(7), using the IP address for the PC you're using as a server in the "Send to LAN Server" box, and then click Apply. And then you're done.

So you can see in my setup I made a service called DAIDE that routes any information on port 16713-16715 to my computer address 192.168.0.2. That is my actual computer on the local network. So any info that the router sees incoming on port 16713 gets sent to that particular machine.

Anyways... hopefully that helps. If your router happens to be the same or similar to mine (which is a very common router) it may have you up and running in no time. If not the same, you may have to dig in to your own router configuration. But the general idea is that you have to forward specific ports to your local machine when 'hosting' a DAIDE game.
