Deara Okonkwo is a recent graduate from the University of Southern California. She obtained her B.A. in English and Psychology in May of 2008. Currently, she is a graduate candidate of the USC Rossier School of Education. She grew up in South, Los Angeles and attended both Los Angeles Southwest Community and Los Angeles Community College prior to transferring to USC. Though a fledgling, Deara has several ambitions in life. After obtaining her Masters she plans to attend Harvard or Yale to fulfill her Doctorate Degree. Her future career goal in so become Secretary of Education for the state of California. Deara wants to recycle the knowledge that she obtained by being an educator. She intends to adjust particular laws and policies that are currently in effect and plans to invest more money in disenfranchised public schools. Furthermore, Deara plans to incorporate Spanish as a mandatory foreign language in elementary schools since the US is becoming a heavily diverse and multicultural society.
